I ran across another interesting example of “spite fencery” right over on Russian Hill –- this taken from the Russian Hill Neigbors website:

This apartment building is known as the “spite building.” The owner of 1000 Vallejo Street built this building to protest the loss of northern and northwestern views by the building at 945 Green Street. The building is L-shaped and higher than 945 Green, blocking the eastern and southeastern views.
