Among other pursuits I love leafing through the ancient hardbound copies of The Argonaut... spent an hour pursuing an argument through several issues in the mid-30s about the correct pronunciation of Kearny Street. Turns out we're all doing it wrong! It's pronounced "Karney" everywhere else in the world, including in Ireland where the name originated. How our pronunciation migrated to "Kerney" is one for the linguists... Nice coincidence…
