This is a great book that I use for reference frequently for patrons. Please note that all of the photographs published in "Historic Photos of San Francisco" belong to the San Francisco Public Library and can be found online through the San Francisco Historical Photograph Collection database. http://sfpl.org/librarylocations/sfhistory/sfphoto.htm

Richard,
Hope you've been great and thanks for all the new articles. Regarding San Francisco history books, I recently bought and read "The Associates: Four Capitalists Who Created California"
by Richard Rayner... for 25 bucks

I found it interesting but the author got many simple facts wrong which made my sparkletack sensibilities boil. He stated that a Chinese undertaker caused the crocker spite fence to go up when it was a German undertaker called Nicolas Yung. Obviously the name threw him off and the author merely assumed the ethnicity. Frustrating because the author got many other simple facts wrong and also frustrating because this is something that could have been easily researched. Anyhow, do you have any suggestions on good books about the Big Four or William Ralston?

Thanks!
